eCFR Atlas is an independent, open-source project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official publication of the United States Government. The Electronic Code of Federal Regulations is produced by the Office of the Federal Register and the Government Publishing Office; it is itself an unofficial editorial compilation, and only the annual printed CFR and the Federal Register are authoritative for legal purposes.
Word counts on this site are derived measurements produced by this project's own
parser, not figures published by any government body. How they are produced, and
what is deliberately excluded from them, is documented on
Methodology. Where a value could not be measured it is
shown as an em dash with its reason — never as zero.
